Steve Mahoney brings an enormous wealth of public sector knowledge and experience to clients.

In 1995, after 18 years service in political office, Steve Mahoney started the firm of Mahoney International specializing in marketing of new products and concepts, helping people develop their business plans. In addition, Mahoney International, through the efforts of Steve and his son, Matthew has done extensive work for and with municipalities in Canada. A major focus of Mahoney International has been in the area of waste management and energy issues facing municipalities.

In June of 1997, Mr. Mahoney was elected as a Liberal Member of Parliament. During his time in the nation's Capital, Matthew Mahoney continued to manage the affairs of Mahoney International.

Mr. Mahoney has over 26 years of political experience in all three levels of government. He was first elected to public office in 1978 as a City Councillor in Mississauga and the region of Peel. He was elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1987 where he served as the Chief Liberal Whip. His provincial political career included a strong run for the Leadership of the Liberal Party of Ontario. In April, 2003, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien appointed Mr. Mahoney as Secretary of State for selected Crown Corporations including Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Canada Post, The Royal Canadian Mint, Queens Quay and The Old Port of Montréal. As Minister, he was responsible for affordable housing and administered over 2 billion dollars along with the provinces and territories.

Since leaving office in June 2004, Mr. Mahoney has rejoined the firm and is currently responsible for several new projects.

Mr. Mahoney is married to Katie, a City and Regional Councilor in Mississauga.
